Customs Offers Extended Hours

Notice Board 08/12/2016

The Customs Department is offering customers extended hours at its Collections Office ahead of the Christmas Holidays. From Monday 12 December to Thursday 22 December the office, which usually closes at 4pm on weekdays, will operate from 8.30am-5pm. It will also close at 12:30 pm on Saturday 17 December.

Noting that the Christmas season is usually accompanied by a steep rise in imports, Acting Deputy Collector Kevin Walton, who heads the Revenue Collection portfolio, says Customs hopes that the increased hours will allow as many persons as possible to retrieve their parcels before the holidays begin.

“We know that the experience of waiting for collection can be challenging year-round but given the extra stresses that accompany the season, we hope that our extended hours will reduce some of that strain and ensure that our customers are able to collect their parcels and have a very happy Holiday indeed,” Mr Walton adds.

On Friday 23 December the Collections Office and nearby Courier Office will close at 12.30pm, reopening on Wednesday 28 December, and reverting to their regular hours. The office will also close at 12.30pm on Friday 30 December, with operations resuming at 8.30am on Tuesday 3 January 2017.

The Collections Office is located at Customs Headquarters on Owen Roberts Drive, while the Courier Office is located on the same road between the Airport Post Office and Customs warehouse.

The Customs Department’s seaport and airport operations will remain open through Christmas and New Year’s.
