Cayman Airways is advising the public, particularly residents in Little Cayman, that the airline will be conducting a full-scale emergency exercise at the Edward Bodden Airfield on Little Cayman on Tuesday April 25, 2017, from approximately 10:45am to 11:30am. The exercise is a requirement of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Cayman Islands (CAACI) for Cayman Airways Express operations on Little Cayman, and will involve a Cayman Airways Express Twin Otter aircraft parked on the Edward Bodden airfield, along with approximately 10 volunteers as passengers, Cayman Airways staff and officials, and Little Cayman emergency services. Registration for Government Reception is open for qualifying children aged 4 Years 0 months before 1st September 2017. On Tuesday, 21 March 2017 the Cayman Islands will join other localities in the Caribbean as a participant in an annual tsunami response exercise called the CARIBE WAVE 17. The purpose of the exercise is to evaluate local tsunami response plans, increase tsunami preparedness and improve coordination throughout the region. The Cayman Islands Airports Authority (CIAA) would like to advise the public that the traffic flow around the Owen Roberts International Airport will be disrupted starting on Monday, 13 March in order to facilitate on-going construction work. As a result, one of the lanes on the main access road will be blocked off by traffic cones. Motorists are being advised to exercise caution around the area. The construction work around the main access road is expected to be completed in two weeks. The CIAA apologizes for any inconvenience caused and would like to thank the public for their patience during this time.
