National Drug Council Hosts Workshop To Prevent Alcohol/Drug Misuse in Children

Parents and teenagers are invited to a free workshop on how to prevent alcohol and drug misuse in children on Thursday, 28 September 2017. The National Drug Council (NDC) and the Department of Counselling Services are hosting an interactive family skill session called “Talk Early, Talk Often” at the Counselling Centre, 3rd Floor, Royal Plaza on Cardinall Avenue from 6 p.m. – 7.30 p.m. Refreshments will be provided. Open House Cayman Brac Police Station – Recruitment Drive

NRA Advises Changes to South Sound Road Markings

The National Roads Authority (NRA) advises motorists to take note of the temporary new road alignment changes on South Sound Road from the South Sound Boat Ramp to Bel Air Road/Slipper tree and to follow the new road lane markings. The new markings denote the road moving to the land side in order to accommodate the new boardwalk construction. (GIS)

Adventist Church Launches Hurricane Irma Relief Fund

The Adventist Church has launched a fund in aid of Hurricane Irma victims in the Turks and Caicos and the Bahamas. Members of the public are invited to join in the relief effort by dropping off their financial contributions at the local head office, 209 Walkers Road, at any time during business hours, or at the nearest Adventist Church.

North Church Street has been blocked by the police between Mary Street and Bodden Road (both ways) due to sea action which has made the roadway dangerous for road users. The public is being warned to treat wave action in that area and elsewhere with caution. Any information in relation to other areas which are being affected be weather, wave action or storm surge and which could pose a danger to the public should be reported to 9494222. Further notification will follow as soon as conditions change.

Tampa Airport to close on Monday Sept. 11

Cayman Airways has been advised that Tampa International Airport (TPA) will now be closed on Monday, September 11, 2017. Therefore, Cayman Airways’ Tampa flights KX200 and KX201 on September 11, 2017 have been cancelled. Subsequently, Cayman Airways has added the following recovery flights on Tuesday September 12, 2017 for affected passengers: KX3200 will depart Grand Cayman at 11:45am and arrive in Tampa at 2:30pm. On the return, flight KX3201 will depart Tampa at 3:25pm and arrive on Grand Cayman at 4:10pm. Affected passengers are encouraged to call Cayman Airways Reservations on 345-949-2311 or 1-800-422-9626 to re-confirm their reservations.
