THE FORECAST: Today: Mainly cloudy skies with a 40% chance of showers. Showers may be locally heavy and be accompanied by thunder. Temperatures will rise to the mid 80’s F. Winds will be east to southeast at 10 to 15 knots. Seas will be slight to moderate with wave heights of 3 to 5 feet. Gusty wind and rough seas are likely in and around heavy showers. Flooding rains continue to impact the Cayman Islands on Wednesday, June 3rd as a surface trough over the western Caribbean interacts with an upper level trough over the Gulf Mexico. By 3.30 pm on Wednesday, rainfall accumulations in excess of 8 inches were recorded in a 24 hour period in George Town, and weather models indicate a further 3-4 inches are likely to fall over the next 24 hours.
